Hello, we are Susan and Peter. We are making our dream of sailing full-time a reality. We had our first 'big trip' in 2021 sailing as far as the Palm Island group in Far North Queensland.
About Us
We discovered sailing while holidaying with our kids in Tahiti some years ago. While it wasn't a sailing holiday there were plenty of people sailing into Tahiti at that time. Some time later I found it was called the Pacific Puddle Jump where people crossed the Pacific Ocean on their yachts. It captured our imagination and so the dream began! We both fell into sailing life together and absolutely loved it. Every opportunity we had, we would hire catamarans with friends and sail the Whitsunday Islands in QLD. We traveled across the ditch to NZ to sail the Bay of Islands. We did sailing courses together to build our sailing skills and increase our knowledge. But best of all there was nothing better than building our practical skills together onboard our own sailing catamaran yacht. So after all that we bought our own sailing catamaran. Now don't get me wrong and think that its all 'glitz and glamour'. We've certainly have had our drama's. We call them learning curves......very steep one's at that!
Lukim Yu is a very comfortable Seawind 1160 catamaran. We bought her 11 years ago (2013). She is an owners version with lots of living space and all round visibility from every angle. Lukim Yu's overall length 11.6metres (38ft) and her beam is 6.5 metres (22ft). The draft is 1.1metres (3ft) which means we can get in closer to shore. We

We have two 29hp yanmar engines that help where necessary. We have a lot of creature comforts onboard. For example, we have a fully equipped galley with a fridge and separate freezer, a water maker, an ice maker and a washing machine. We love to sail all the time.

Susan has sailed from Opua, New Zealand to Nuku'alofa, Tonga. We've done the odd sail trip to Sydney Harbour to watch the NYE's celebrations on the harbour. We also love to sail to Pittwater and stay in many of the bays and coves. We have plenty of adventures ahead with sailing the east coast of Australia each winter season to escape the cold. One day we hope to sail across the Pacific Ocean to Noumea, Fiji & wherever else we decide.
